All in a days work

Days at the office should always be this easy!

While my momma ties up loose ends in the office, we decided to take a snooze. It's true we barely fit on the bed in the office but we make it work. In case you were wondering what that white ball was in the chair, it's Bella.

Where is Linus, you ask?

He has the couch all to himself!

I think he's on to something...hmmmm?

There is a hug, then there is a BISON hug

My uncle Chris came to visit me and Lindsay with their new pup. I'll talk about Jackson later. For now, I want to show you how to hug family.

First, you need to ask me to give you a hug. Make sure to get in position to accept my hug. Jackson, watch and learn...I'm only going to show you once!

Ready? Here I come!

C R A S H!!

I land on your chest! Make sure to stay upright and not fall over. I am quite powerful!

Hug complete!
You complete the hug by patting me on my head.
See.... easy!

Sorry if I almost dropped you uncle Chris, I still love you!

When it rains...

...we get silly indoors!
It's just as fun to run up and down the hall, through my parents bedroom, jump up on their bed (while my dad is still asleep) and back down the hall again.
Hee hee...
We find plenty of ways to amuse ourselves when it's raining outside.

We want the doggie blog world to know that we haven't fallen off the blog wagon just yet. We'll be back with lots to say. We are so happy the Green Cats post sparked your interest in going green, too. We have more green ideas that we'd like to explore, stay tuned.

The cats are Green

"Say what?
When did the cats turn green"

"Last time I checked Linus was still orange..."

"...and Bella was still white."

Ah, my little naive sista. The cats are not actually green, silly! They are more eco-friendly now. The litter momma used to put in their litterbox was clay based. Not very good for our environment. Momma switched them over to World's Best Cat Litter which is corn based instead of clay. It's biodegradable, too!

Momma buys a big 34 pound bag of World's Best at Petsmart for nearly $30. Ouch..she should be buying me freeze dried liver but I'll let it slide. The good news is that one bag lasts Linus and Bella for 6 months.

"What? Only one bag for 6 months?"

Did I stutter? Yes, 6 months!

Then she pours World's Best into two jugs that housed the old school clay litter. At least they're good for something.

And to take this eco-thing a step further, momma said goodbye to plastic bags that used to collect what Linus and Bella left behind and hello paper bags. There was no point collecting biodegradable litter into a plastic bag that would never biodegrade, now is there? She folds up a grocery paper bag until it's low enough to fit as a recepticile for the littermaid.

See...this is how it fits in the littermaid. It actually holds more than the recepticles that originally come with it.

*I'd like to apologize for the dirty appearance of this litter box. The cats are not as clean and tidy as me and Lindsay. We leave no traces of poops! If my momma gave us the chance, she would never have to clean another litter box again.*

Linus: "Hey, I don't like you posting about my toilet use on your blog! Dude...you're gonna pay!"

Bella: "You better watch out. Linus never holds back on a threat."

"This is fascinating and all but I must catch up on my beauty sleep. Thanks for the lesson, Bison!"

Hey! I'm not finished yet!
I wanted everyone to know that their cats can also go green. Even if it's starting with using paper bags then switching litters later. Baby steps. There are so many biodegradable litters to choose from so choose carefully.

And this concludes my good deed of the day.

I can't believe it!

I can't believe a picture of my sista, Lindsay won 2nd place in a contest at Flickr: Fur & Feathers with Attitute. My momma got a message last night and wanted to share with all you internet Lindsay admirers. I know, there aren't many of you. (hee hee)
She won second place for most expressive eyes. I'm still in shock! Thank you to those of you who voted for my sista!

Family Portraits

My cousins came over to my house for a play date. It was a fantastic surprise!! My momma and Auntie Mary had an idea to get us all in a picture together. It's never been done before so why not? Right? Getting one dog to pose and look at the camera can be a challenge much less 6 dogs! At the same time, even!! Auntie Mary took the physical challenge.

My Auntie Mary put her training skills to the test! She rounded us all up on the couch for our doggie portrait. One of the small dogs kept ruining our picture by jumping off. Figures!! Me and Bruno were good boys and did everything Auntie Mary said. Typical angels!

"Lindsay! We're waiting for you!"

There were some malfunctions.

"Eeewwww.....someone scooted on the couch!"
Bruno: I swear it wasn't me!

Almost there but Gino blended in with the couch. He's totally camouflaged! If you still don't see him, he's to the left of Bruno.

Finally...our family portrait!
Bruno: Took long enough!
Bison: Wake me up when it's over.
This is the first but I'm sure it won't be the last.

Lindsay loves to learn

Hey Lindsay!

"What?!"

You want some treats?

"What's the catch?"

All you have to do is learn something. It's called "leave it". Bison knows this very well, I think it's your turn to learn.

"OK, what do I have to do?"

First, I plop a treat down in front you. But you can't eat it yet.

"What? I just have to watch it? Is it going to get bigger or something?"

"Mmmmmm....it sure looks delish! Have I learned "leave it" yet?"

No, silly. Watch for the hand signal I'm giving you. My four fingers are up with my thumb curled into my palm. This is your signal to "leave it". It looks similar to our "stay" command but a little different.

"Ok, watching you. Still watching you. I'm still watching you. Watching. How long is this going to take?"

I'll let you know.

Good job!! Now you can have the treat as reward for all your hard work!

"Score!! This learning thing isn't so bad?!"

See, Lindsay girl! I knew you could learn "leave it". Being deaf is no battle!

Naps are important!

Have you ever been awaken from a nice nap? Then had your mom take pictures of you when you're not at your best?

Well it happened to us! Me and Bison were taking a lovely nap on the couch when...

...my momma woke us up for a bathroom trip. Can you believe it?! As if I want to go outside when it's below freezing temps to use the bathroom! When I'm in dream land, don't bother me. Seriously, does it look like I have to go? The bags underneath my eyes should be indicator that I'm pretty sleepy.

C'mon mom, I'm going back to bed!

Even Bison is too tired go.
Bison: Come back in a few hours and ask us if we want to go then.

Alright, I'll go!

Naw, changed my mind...I'm too sleepy!

We did have a nice Christmas

Christmas was fun, my grandpawents came to visit us. They brought my cousins, Lucy and Max. I need to start by saying WTF is Max wearing?

My grandma: Why that's his diaper!

Why does a dog need a diaper? Isn't that what potty training is for?
Can you tell he is beyond embarrassment?

Anyhow, there was no way I was going to let Max live this one down. After all, he did annoy me! So, I did what any cousin needing a good laugh would do.

I teased him till he begged me to stop.

Max: Cousin Bison, it's not my fault that my momma puts this silly denim pamper on me! I really have no say. Please don't post about this on your blog. Please!!

Sorry buddy, I couldn't keep this one to myself.

On with the story...

The new family tradition is to make my momma's grandmothers secret tamale recipe around Christmas time. This recipe is complicated, tedious, and extremely time consuming! That's why my grandpawents came to our house.

Lindsay: Ok....me ready. What you need me to do?!

Momma: Thanks Lindsay but we don't think it's a good idea. Thumbs are an important qualification to be a tamale maker.

Anyways....

Two tables were set up in our romper room for the assembly process. My momma's station was across from my dad. Hey...someone had to take the picture for memories sake. Her important job was tying the tamales with string after my grandpa and grandma wrapped them up.

Some of the yummy ingredients that go into these delicious wonders are
turkey, special homemade red sauce, bell pepper, olives, almonds, garbanzo beans, and of course masa.

All ready to wrap.

The finished pile wrapped and stringed up.

Then...steamed on the stove for a few hours.
These few hours felt like a lifetime! We could not wait to have a taste.

Afterward, we were all tuckered out. My pawents and grandpawents from preparing the tamales for hours and us for watching. Exhausting!!

Lindsay: I wasn't sleeping. I was just resting my jaws waiting to try the tamales. Are they ready yet?

Yeah, are they ready yet?! It's been like FOREVER!

Lucy: I think I deserve to be the first to try the tamales.

Max: I don't think so!!

Momma: Relax you guys! No dog will have any tamales! Understood?!

What?!?! We've waited this long and we can't have any tamales?! Mom, you're just saying that to the little dogs, right?
